Worship at Saint Paul's
Good liturgy is at the very heart of Episcopal worship. Good worship is never routine and must accommodate the varied ways in which the participants live their lives.
Here at St. Paul's Episcopal, we have what could be described as an eclectic style of worship. There are three Eucharistic liturgies each week. At 11:00AM each Wednesday in Grace Chapel, there is a healing liturgy with unction and Holy Communion which is very familial in style and on the last Wednesday of each month, the 'Out to Lunch Bunch" chooses a restaurant and everyone shares a meal following worship.
Sunday at 8:00AM we have a low-Church Rite I spoken Eucharistic liturgy in the serene setting of Grace Chapel. While the liturgy is more informal the traditional words of Rite I are appreciated by many. And it offers a chance for private meditation and a quiet conversation with God.
Music can add a completely different dimension to any celebration. Our 10:15AM Sunday Eucharistic liturgy is a community choral worship experience. There is congregational, choral and solo singing as well as organ preludes and postludes that begin and end the liturgy each week.
The liturgical worship at Saint Paul's involves basically three books: The Book of Common Prayer 1979 [PDF], The Hymnal 1982, and Lift Every Voice and Sing II. Incense is occasionally used for special occasions. The Eucharistic liturgy at 10:15AM is often sung. Our Sunday lectionary readings are taken from the Revised Common Lectionary. The readings usually used on Wednesday are those for the following Sunday.
The best way to learn about worship at Saint Paul's is to join us on Sunday morning at either 8:00AM or 10:15AM or on Wednesday at 11:00AM.
